The distributed I/O data transmission and automation system for line-saving local and remote transmission and processing of messages, measured values, commands and count values ....
- reduces the need for expensive parallel wiring achieved by the ZM51 field bus
- operates over short distances, long distances, via public postoffice lines and in areas where methane is present
- is granularly adaptable on a modular basis to any task
- is compact, rugged, economical and easy to operate
- can be used as a small to medium-sized control system (programmable controller)
- can be used stand alone, in combination with other systems or as a subsystem for larger control or automation systems
Features
- Compact modular electronics using SMD technology
- Economical solution for small quantities of data, even for data transmission stations with smallest amount of I/O's
- System requirements are accurately met by granular adjustment
of the module performance (4 or 8 binary signals or 2 analog
signals for each I/O module).
- Identical basic configuration of all data transmission stations: CPU, modem or linedriver, up to 8 I/O modules, power supply or DC converter
- Simple, quick installation using clip mounting on a 35 mm standard rail
- Compact design permits installation in small housings or cabinets
- Plugable screw terminals for direct connection to displays, sensors and actuators
- Flat ribbon cable used as internal I/O bus
- Address adjustment by DIP switches
- LED indicators for I/O signals and module
Various tasks can be performed by combination of the different ZM51 modules:
- process data transmission
- process automation
- climate data transmission
- computer interfacing according to BB22444 or DUST3964R
- Star coupler (field bus branch)
- repeater (increase in range)
The ZM51 modules are clipped on to standard rails and connected to each other by suitable module connectors (ZM51 station bus).
The ZM51 system has the certificate of conformity BVS 92.C.1059X for type of protection EEx ia I or EEx ib I and the approval GA 36/88B for type of protection (Sch) e, s, i.
Furthermore, the ZM51 system can also be used for transmission of climate data according to the approval of DMT dated 25.9.1991.
Typical applications:
- Monitoring and automation of:
- gas, water and electricity mains
- pipelines and pumping stations
- sewage treatment plants
- sewage disposal plants
- switching stations/transformer substations
- Fault signal/diagnostic system for monitoring railway level crossing and signalling systems
- Monitoring of extraction and transport systems
- Safety-oriented recording and monitoring of climate data
- Automation systems for:
- belts, ploughs, armoured conveyors, bunkers, mine fans,
loading points, ventilation doors, etc.
- Data transmission and automation for:
- gas drainage
- water drainage
- track signal system
Field bus
The ZM51 field bus transports all information between the ZM51 process stations over short or long distances. Data is transmitted on the ZM51 field bus serially with uniform telegrams.
For long-distance transmission 2 to a maximum of 256 stations can be connected to the two-wire field bus. Depending on the bus length and speed transmission is effected with corresponding FSK modems (Z51-MD...).
Field bus lengths of 20 km and more are possible.
Economical DC linedrivers in intrinsically safe (EEx ia I) and non-intrinsi-cally safe variants are made available for coupling in the local area.
The topology of the ZM51 field bus can be selected according to the requirements, e.g. as line, tree, star or ring, with additional components such as field bus junction boxes, star couplers and repeater stations.
